Born in Zhanjiang, Guangdong, 1984
I graduated from the Sculpture Department of Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts in 2007 with a bachelor's degree. I currently live and work in Shanghai. Using discarded newspapers and magazines as my medium, I employ traditional grass-mat weaving techniques, cutting them into strips to create woven artworks. Fragmented text and yellowed pages form a unique visual rhythm within the grid patterns, occasionally accented by hand-painted colors. I describe myself as an "artistic laborer," elevating month-long repetitive manual processes into spiritual expression. Through my practice, I preserve traditional craftsmanship while transcending technical constraints, constructing a distinctive creative philosophy that bridges physical labor and artistic contemplation.
